Haruka Amami (天海 春香 Amami Haruka?) is the main heroine in THE iDOLM@STER franchise developed by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment since 2005. She is an idol at 765 Production. Haruka made her first appearance as one of the playable characters of the arcade game THE iDOLM@STER, released in 2005. Since then, she has become one of THE iDOLM@STER's primary original characters and continues to be one of the franchise's most recognizable icons. Her most recent appearance was in THE IDOLM@STER STELLA STAGE.

She is voiced by primarily by Eriko Nakamura, but was initially voiced by Yuka Iguchi for Xenoglossia in 2007.

Personality[]

Haruka is a optimistic and enthusiastic girl with a love for singing where her personality makes it easy for her to get along with most people she meets and she's commonly thought to just be a normal girl.

Due to her nature, she can quite easily get along with almost anybody, hence the reason why Takagi calls her "a normal girl". However, she is shown to be very clumsy, often tripping and falling over nothing. Despite this, she loves to engage in physical activities, such as dancing or sporting events.

Haruka Amami, at the age of 17 (16 in 1st vision), is the main heroine of the main 765 Production iDOLM@STER games. Dreaming of being an idol since she was young, Haruka is a very cheerful and hard-working girl who loves to sing.

Because spending time together is an important value to Haruka, she loves her friends and fellow idols from 765 Production immensely, and is happiest when she can work and sing together with them.

Background[]

Haruka lives in the Kanagawa prefecture with her father and mother and she is a high school student, but her exact school year is never mentioned.

Her family consists of herself, her father, and her mother. The Amamis are a very cheerful family and value the importance of spending time together. Because her house is in a provincial city far away from downtown, Haruka has to take the morning's first train whenever she goes to work in Tokyo.

Hobbies[]

Haruka's main hobby is baking a variety of sweets and she enjoys sharing them with those at the office. She'll usually spend her days off either researching new recipes or trying to replicate cakes from her local bakery. She especially loves to make cakes and cookies and bring them to the office with her and share them with the staff. On her days off Haruka loves to research new recipes or go to the local bakery to buy cakes to study and later try to mimic herself.

Aside from baking, Haruka also enjoys singing karaoke and having long phone calls with her friends.

Etymology[]

  • The name Haruka means "spring" (春) (haru) and "fragrance, fragrant" (香) (ka).
  • Haruka's surname Amami means "heaven/heavenly, sky, imperial" (天) (ama) and "sea, ocean" (海) (mi).

Trivia[]

  • Haruka is always shown to be wearing hair decorations of some kind, most commonly twin ribbons or twin barrettes.
  • Haruka prefers to practice her singing outdoors due to a childhood memory [1].
  • Haruka's family is very optimistic and cheerful that they enjoy spending time together.
  • Haruka's trademark accessories are her twin ribbons. In certain outfits they are replaced with barrettes, but she always has a hair decoration of some kind. The exception to this is the Vivid Bikini DLC outfit in THE iDOLM@STER 2, where she wears a single flower in her hair. She also has a single hair decoration with the Bikini of Siren costume.
  • According to the anime, she hates living alone.
  • In the anime, she is stated to live very far from the office. Her home train station is based on Ninomiya Station in Kanagawa, which is over an hour via train from Tokyo.
    • Several of her commus in various games refer to a grandmother who lives in the country that Haruka is very close to.
